We’re so glad you found us online, and we hope you will plan to join us at First Christian Birmingham and give us the opportunity to welcome you personally. We are an open and affirming congregation and that means all are welcome to participate in the full life of the church. When we say all we mean ALL. Here’s everything you need to know about your first visit, from parking and Children’s Ministry to what to wear.

HERE’S WHAT YOU MIGHT EXPECT ON A TYPICAL SUNDAY MORNING:

What should I do when I arrive?

Our morning worship service begins at 10:15 AM.  There are reserved “Visitor” parking spots near the building’s handicap accessible entrance.

As you enter the building through the front doors, greeters will welcome you and answer any questions you may have about our church.  Just inside the front door is a “Welcome Table” where first-time visitors can pick up a gift from the church.  To the left you will find the sanctuary, where greeters will provide you with everything you need for worship. Our only goal is that you feel comfortable and welcome when you're here.

What is your worship service like?

First Christian Church’s Sunday service is largely traditional.  The pastors wear robes and (mostly) speak from the pulpit.  Music is led by our choir and accompanied by piano or organ.  We celebrate communion each Sunday.  ALL are welcome and invited to receive communion.

You can listen to sermons here.

You can expect to see people dressed in everything from blue jeans to suits.  Most of us dress for comfort. We want you to be comfortable too.

What will my children do during the service?

Children of all ages are welcome to participate with you in morning worship, but there are other options available, too.

Childcare for infants & toddlers is available in the nursery for all or part of the service.  Professional caregivers will make sure that your child’s stay is a safe and pleasant experience.

Children 4K-third grade are encouraged to participate in Children’s Worship and Wonder, a special worship and education experience designed just for them.  Children will come to the sanctuary for the beginning of worship and then leave the service for Worship and Wonder after a short children’s sermon. You can pick up your child from the library following worship.
