Mary Alice has a MA in Theological and Religious Studies from Drew University and a PhD in Preaching and Social Ethics from Vanderbilt. She was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1988 and has enjoyed a career serving churches primarily throughout Indiana. She is looking forward to her time with FCC Birmingham.
Mary Alice has many interests and great curiosity. She is very direct and clear in her mission to preach, teach, and reach people with the truth that God is real. She wants to equip people with scriptural truths for use in their daily lives. She describes her preaching as “impassioned” and is strong in the conviction that, “Faith matters! Jesus is alive! That really, really matters today.”
The opportunity to walk with people as they realize God’s love and discover and use their gifts in ministry is the passion that motivates Robin’s ministry in the church. For over 20 years she has served in youth ministry in a variety of contexts, with a particular interest in intentional discipleship. She brings that experience to First Christian in her work with all ages as we all seek to be more faithful followers of Christ in the world.
Robin and her husband Stan live in Birmingham with their two daughters, Linnea and Kallan. Robin is also a coach for the Center for Youth Ministry Training and has a passion for equipping youth workers. In her spare time Robin enjoys reading and playing in the dirt.
